Love At First Sight

When I was young, I saw endless fairy tales talking about everlasting love, love at first sight, and happy ever afters. Some say that love at first sight or imprinting, as Stephenie Meyers has used in her Breaking Dawn novel, is absurd.

At first, I thought the same as them. Yes, I did indeed fall in love at first sight. HAHA. Though I won't reveal who he is since it's been ages.

It was those bizarre moments that you least expected. I’m not going to tell all the nitty-gritty details, but I’ll tell how it felt and how it happened. It was just the same as what they described in the movie and in the novels. Yes, they are not exaggerating. Trust me. It was like a lightning bolt striking me, electrifying my entire being. In that instant, I felt an undeniable connection and a rush of emotions that I couldn't explain. It was as if the universe conspired to bring us together, defying all logic and reason.

It was just a busy day with the usual people I’m hanging out with. But among the crowd, a guy stood out.  Just like in love stories, where everything gets hazy and everyone moves slowly, that's exactly what happened to me. I can still precisely recall that exact moment and that exact emotion. Time stood still when he stepped into the room. All I saw was him, and my heart stuttered for a bit. Everything became fuzzy, and my only focal point was him. 

Ha! You must think I got this from a cheesy movie or novel, but yeah, it’s exactly like that. There is no other, and nobody else exists. It’s just him moving around you. Everything around you has vanished.

Though the relationship didn’t last, I'm still grateful that I was able to see it before my eyes. Feel how to fall in love at first sight. Not everyone has gone through it, and occasionally they would even tell you it’s a bit cliche and dramatic.

That’s why I don’t contradict people who believe in love at first sight. Because I was one of the living proofs of it. It was just the same as what was read in books. But encountering it, as per reading it, gives it a more monumental essence.

I know that love is scarce and hard to find right now. Yet it shouldn't cause you to despise the idea of falling in love. It’s one of the magnificent works of God that he has given us—the capacity to feel both the good and the bad and to love someone of the opposite sex.  It’s a wonderful learning curve that will establish your personality and wisdom. 

There’s someone out there for you. Someone who’ll make your heart flutter, give you butterflies, or even make you fall in love at first sight. Just hold on to the love institution for now.  You’ll see your soulmate; it’s just around there somewhere, at the perfect moment and place. Love is a beautiful journey that teaches you lessons in life. It may take time and patience, but trust the timing of life. It will be worth it.
